Introduction
Bill has over 40 years of experience in heavy civil and structural engineering, split between offshore and onshore engineering. His involvement has contributed to receiving several major industry awards and, with a balanced portfolio between design and construction, he is recognised as an expert in structural steelwork and construction engineering.
World leading structural services
Bill is a Chartered Engineer, a fellow of the prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering and fellow of both Institution of Civil Engineers and Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.
After a distinguished career in civil and structural engineering involved in prestigious projects such as London 2012 Olympic venues, Heathrow Terminal 5 and Hong Kong’s new high-speed rail terminal Bill is offering his services as an independent consultant.
His offshore expertise enabled him to be one of the first pioneers of modular construction systems which was first used on Hong Kong Airport and then used as the construction blueprint for Heathrow’s Terminal 5.
His first-hand experience in steelwork fabrication and assembly involving specialist workshop equipment, lifting systems, strand-jacking and load transfer systems has provided him with wide range of skills in construction engineering. He has a detailed understanding of welding procedure to UK, American and Australian standards which has enabled him to resolve complex metallurgical problems and a new phenomenon in brittle fracture.
Bill has close involvement in the design process using BIM, PDMS and Tekla software and practical experience in the design of steelwork connections using high-strength bolts and welded connections.
The later part of his career has been dedicated in providing structural advice on prestigious projects in the UK and Hong Kong.
